One of the fronts is the investment in electric efficiency - the country wants to be the first in the world to supply all its lighting needs with the use of LEDs.
To help India achieve this goal, the United Nations Environment Program and partners develop the Creating and Maintaining Markets for Energy Efficiency initiative, a project to advance the sustainability agenda and foster technological innovations in the lighting sector. The use of LEDs can reduce energy consumption by 50 to 70% compared to other technologies.
